Biography

Born in 1938, Saeed Akhtar is a celebrated painter and a former Professor at the National College of Arts. He began his art training as one of Shakir Ali’s early students in the 1960s. In his final year at the college, Saeed Akhtar worked in sculpture and later was to teach the discipline. His major commission from this time is the portrait of Quaid-e-Azam Muhamad Ali Jinnah. Akhtar is a renowned artist considered as a pioneer Painter whose contribution is valuable in Pakistan art scene.
