Biography

Abdul Jabbar Gull was born in 1969 in Mirpurkhas. He completed his BFA in Sculpture from NCA in 1996. Gull has exhibited nationally and internationally ever since. He has several solo and group shows to his credit. From 1998 to 2008 he taught sculpture at the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture. He is still engaged with various institutes as visiting faculty.

Gull has been invited to Fordsburg Residency Program – Johannesburg (2002), VASL International Artists’ Residency – Karachi (2005), 8th International Stone Sculpture Symposium – Seoul, Sculpture Symposium – Spain (2013), (2014) and (2015), and Arrecido Wool Symposium – Spain (2014). His work is part of collections nationally and internationally. He has done several projects of Sculptures and Paintings for commercial and private sector including the “Coins Mural”, a large 18 ft x 24 ft mural for the State Bank of Pakistan. A Metal Sculpture for the head office of Faysal Bank Karachi and a huge Metal Installation for Glaxosmithklines’s head office. His work is displayed at CIP lounge at the new Islamabad international airport.

His work ‘Winged Thought’ was chosen and given as an award to international film celebrities at Pakistan international film festival PIFF. He is also the recipient of National Excellence Award for Sculpture by Pakistan National Council of Arts and Punjab Artists’ Association Award for Sculpture.
