Molten Majesty explores the endless human desire for power, fame, wealth, sex, status and control. These desires often appear attractive and rewarding, yet when they become excessive, they slowly begin to consume us. I am interested in that point where ambition turns into obsession, where desire begins to shape our choices, beliefs and ultimately our identity.
In this series, molten gold becomes a symbol of greed, lust, arrogance, obsession and the constant hunger for more. It also reflects the way people follow the wrong individuals, worship false idols, and build belief around fabricated symbols of power, success and superiority. In doing so, we often begin to lose our own identity, values and sense of self, becoming reflections of the people and ideals we choose to follow. Animals remain central to the series because I see them as among the purest creations, untouched by the artificial systems of wealth, fame and power created by humans. Their presence allows me to create a contrast between purity and corruption, instinct and obsession, innocence and desire. By placing them in relation to molten gold, I imagine what happens when something naturally pure is confronted by the desires and values humans have created. Working across several mediums, with oil on canvas as the dominant medium, I use molten gold as both temptation and consequence. Gold is beautiful, precious and desirable, yet once molten, the same beauty becomes dangerous. It burns, overwhelms and destroys. For me, this transformation closely reflects human desire itself.
Through Molten Majesty, I question what we choose to worship, whom we choose to follow, and how easily our pursuit of power, pleasure and recognition can make us forget who we truly are. No matter how much we possess, desire never learns to be satisfied. It grows with every conquest, feeds on every possession, and in the end, the very fire we worship becomes the force that consumes us.
